چکیده

. It is well known fact that system parameters of the flexible structures keep on changing due to several reasons. Ordinary controllers loose their effectiveness in changed situations and do not guarantee the stability of the closed loop system. However, controllers designed based on robust control theory, not only maintain the closed loop stability of the perturbed system with a large variation in system parameters but also maintain the best performance.  H Loop shaping controller is designed and implemented on a smart flexible structure treated with precompressed layer damping and ACLD treatment. It outperforms Linear Quadratic Gaussian and standard  H controller both in terms of robust stability and robust performance. Relative merits and demerits of the μ – synthesis based controller are also discussed.

Design of Nonlinear Robust Controller and Observer for Control of a Flexible Spacecraft

Two robust nonlinear controllers along with a nonlinear observer have been developed in this study to control a 1D nonlinear flexible spacecraft. The first controller is based on dynamic inversion, while the second one is composed of dynamic inversion and µ-synthesis controllers. The extension of dynamic inversion approach to flexible spacecraft is impeded by the non-minimum phase characteristi...

A magnetorheological fluid damper for robust vibration control of flexible rotor-bearing systems: A comparison between sliding mode and fuzzy approaches

Squeeze Film Dampers (SFD) are commonly used for passive vibration control of rotor-bearing systems. The Magnetorheological (MR) and Electrorheological (ER) fluids in SFDs give a varying damping characteristic to the bearing that can provide active control schemes for the rotor-bearing system. A common way to model an MR bearing is implementing the Bingham plastic model. Adding this model to th...

Active Control of Multiferroic Composite Shells Using 1-3 Piezoelectric Composites

This article deals with the analysis of active constrained layer damping (ACLD) of smart multiferroic or magnetoelectro-elastic doubly curved shells. The kinematics of deformations of the multiferroic doubly curved shell is described by a layer-wise shear deformation theory. A three-dimensional finite element model of multiferroic shells has been developed taking into account the electro-elasti...

Designing a new robust control for virtual inertia control in the microgrid with regard to virtual damping

Background and Objectives: Virtual inertia control, as a component of a virtual synchronous generator, is used for the implementation of synchronous generator behaviour in microgrids. In microgrids that include high-capacity distributed generation resources, in addition to virtual inertia, virtual damping can also lead to improvement of frequency stability of the microgrid. The purpose of the c...

Optimal Configurations of ACLD/Plate for Bending Vibration Control using INSGA-II

Active constrained layer damping (ACLD) has been demonstrated as an effective means of vibration and noise control for flexible structure. The overall performance of ACLD system is governed by the performance of the passive and the active controls on which the configurations of ACLD treatments have significant effect. In this paper, a multi-objective optimization model for ACLD treatments is es...
